Categories Screenshots

DreamConnect allows you to organise your contacts in a way that is practical and meaningful. The Categories feature enables you to classify each contact according to the contexts in which you interact. A contact can belong to multiple categories, as someone may belong to different areas of your life, for example, someone who is both a friend and a work colleague.

The screenshots show you how to attach, create new, view and manage categories.

Attach Category

Suppose you had a work colleague whom you now also consider a friend. You want to place this person in the Personal category. There are two methods to do this:

• Select the Attach Category button on the toolbar and choose the category to be attached to the contact, or from the menu bar, choose Edit >Attach Category.
• In the edit contact dialog, select the category.

We've decided that the first option is the most convenient. The first screenshot shows how simple it is to perform this action.

Detaching the categories is equally easy and the technique is identical to the above two methods. But instead of selecting the categories you want attached, simply choose the categories that you want detached.

Creating New Categories

You may create new categories to suit your needs. You can even create categories while editing a contact. For example, if you wanted to put all the people who are soccer fans together:

1. First, tap on the edit button on the toolbar to enter the edit dialog box. Notice that categories can also be attached/detached here (see the second method in the Attach Category section).
2. Select the New Category button and a dialog box appears. Enter the name and description of the new category.
3. The new category will be shown on the Categories field in the edit dialog. Save to return to the main display. Notice that Soccer now appears with the Personal and Work categories.

Viewing Categories

You can choose to view only those contacts in the relevant category, useful if you want to view particular contacts. For example, you may want to call all your soccer friends to get together and watch a match.

The top toolbar reflects the category that you are currently viewing. This is part of DreamConnect's constant visual feedback to keep you informed of what you are viewing.

Managing Categories

Categories are easily managed and edited. For instance, if you wanted to delete a certain category, simply tap on the Category button on the top toolbar and select Manage categories. From the management dialog, categories can be created, modified, deleted or selected to be viewed. Default categories (ones already in DreamConnect such as Personal and None) can't be edited. The description of each category is displayed to help you remember what the different categories are for.

As shown, Categories is extremely useful. This feature is invaluable for people who want flexibility and convenience in organising their contacts.
